GAZA STRIP, (ALRESALAH.PS)--The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip on Saturday reported the first death case of COVID-19 in Gaza.
In a press statement, the Ministry said the death case is a 77-year-old woman, identified as Fadeelah Abu Reed, from the district of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip who died at the quarantine hospital near the border with Egypt earlier in the day.
"The elderly disuffered chronic diseases", the Ministry added.
"The necessary measures are being taken in accordance with the approved protocol for deaths from corona virus", the statement reported.
A total of 55 people in Gaza have been infected with the coronavirus since March 5.
Eyad al-Bozzom, spokesman of the ministry of interior, told a news briefing in Gaza that no infection cases have been recorded in the populated areas in the inclaved Strip.
