Gaza,(Alresalah.ps)— The Israeli occupation announced last Wednesday that Israel would reduce another 2 million dollars out of its financial contribution to the United Nations, which is already reduced, protesting recent anti-Israeli resolutions in the Human Rights Council.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the Israeli foreign ministry to reduce the funds allocated to the united nations and trans it to the developing countries that support Israel in international organizations. The financial reduction is the second of its kind this year as a new reduction was announced in January and the Israeli contributions to the UN became 6 million dollars.
These actions comes in the context of Israel's rejection of United Nations policies although the UN has been biased to Israel since it was established in 1948.
Israel evades implementation of its obligations towards "peace", and rebuffs all decisions adopted by the international community, The most recent of which was the declaration by the new US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Healey, that "the days when Israel was targeted in the international organization have gone, because the United States cannot overstate its closest friend in the Middle East."
Along history, Israel has not changed its position on the issue of the refugees' return. It said in a letter to the UN Conciliation Commission for Palestine, saying: "The clock is not going backwards. The return of Arab refugees to their former places is impossible."
Moreover, Israel's practices against United Nations envoys and international mediators were so cruel. For example, Israeli gangs executed the United Nations envoy to Palestine Alcount Folk Bernadotte in Jerusalem on 17 September 1948.
Assassination of Folk marked the first clear sign of the relationship between Israel and the United Nations.
Mary Robinson came under fire while she was inside her car as she was doing his work as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2000. In addition, Israel attacked William Chapas, the chairman of the UN Commission investigating the Israeli offensive on Gaza in 2014, and accused him of bias for the PLO. So he resigned.
Israel refuses to cooperate or receive the human rights commissions mandated by the Human Rights Council to investigate human rights violations in the Palestinian territories, such as the UN committee headed by the Judge Richard Goldstone, and also the UN Special Rapporteur who was denied access to the Palestinian land by Israel.
Israel adopts a special strategy in its relation with the United Nations, which is based on strong US support. It works to prevent any practical action that would strengthen the political and legal entity of the Palestinian people. It also opposes all decisions that exposes Israeli position and violations against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territories.
